More Shade Than Sun is a Seattle-based rock band that blurs the boundaries between rock, blues, country, alternative, Americana and folk. Equally at home in a duo or a full band, our songs are typically composed acoustically and use a lot of open tunings.
Ultimately though, we’re not really trying to sound like anyone else. This is the music that we make when we’re left to our own devices. We’re really a melting pot of many popular genres. One moment you might hear something that reminds you of ___________ and suddenly you might be transported back in time listening to something that might remind you of very early Genesis or Yes.
Simultaneously bluesy, twangy, swampy and progressive, our music has more influences than we can possibly list here. The many amazing artists from the 60s and 70s are still a source of great inspiration. And not just the rock artists of the day, but also the folk scene, progressive rock and some jazz-rock fusion projects from that era.
Our hope is that when listening to our music, you’ll be simultaneously inspired and find yourself humming along.
